History and Analysis
691 Bushwick Avenue is one of a row of four brownstone row-houses now clad in brick; it has an iron cornice and tin ceilings, and was built in 1890 by Theobald Engelhardt for William Ulmer, who lived across the street at 670 Bushwick Avenue. Like the other houses in the row, it was originally classed an A4 single-family dwelling. The red paint is recent, but the shape and features of the house are intact.
