The two-story multi-family detached home at 49 Troutman Street was built to house four families in 1881. Built by E.C. Bauer for owner C. Schellwald, the building is 25 feet wide by 30 feet deep and 23 feet high. A spruce-framed building with outer walls of brick and clap board, this structure was built on a stone base. It was also built with four brick chimneys and a flat tin roof at a cost of $2500. The facade of the structure appears to have dramatically changed, and it is not even certain that the 1881 building is still extant.
