This row of five, two-story rowhouses were designed and built between 1880 and 1886. Although designed by the same architect and built by the same owner and builder, they were constructed at different times. In the Real Estate Record and Guide of October 9, 1880, lots 6&7 call for “two, two-story brick dwellings, 20×40, tin roof, wooden cornice, cost $3,600 each.”[1] In the Real Estate Record and Guide of May 3, 1884, lots 8&9 call for “two, three-story brick dwellings, 20×40, tin roofs, tin cornices, cost $4,000 each.”^[2] These two house are two-story brick dwellings and have wooden cornices. There is no record of when the house on lot 10 was added, or when the mansard roof was added. Because the descriptions in the Real Estate Record and Guide differ from what was built, suggesting a change to the plan during the design and planning phase, further research is needed in order to verify this that this construction information is accurate.
