History and Analysis
1072-1074 Jefferson Avenue are two two-and-a-half-story rowhouses with stoops on the right side of their front facades, located between Bushwick Avenue and Broadway. Both are covered in vinyl siding with most front facade ornament removed. Because of the similarity of the row and the typical development patterns of the area between 1886 and 1898, one can assume that these structures were probably built concurrently as a speculative development venture.

According to the United States Census of 1900, there were multiple large families living in each rowhouse. Almost all the residents were born in New York with parents born in the United States, England, Ireland, and Germany. Everyone rented and no one had servants. There were a wide variety of working and middle class professions listed, including an engineer, law student, real estate broker, manufacturer, typewriter, bookbinder, and barber.
