History and Analysis

1021 Hancock Street is a three story, three bay, free standing rowhouse between Bushwick Avenue and Broadway. It is covered in asphalt siding, but retains its original cornice and has a stoop on the left side of the front facade, hinting that it might have originally been a Neo-Grec building.

According to the United States Census of 1900, there was one large, multi-generational family living in the rowhouse. The residents had no servants and owned the structure. The family members were born in New York and descended from Ireland. The males were dry goods clerks and accountants.
